2022 Members of Walvis Bay 36 – We have our Mayor’s Full Support (Mayor Trevino Forbes Back Row Left)
On the 26th of July 2020, Twaloloka (a settlement in Walvis Bay) went up in flames. Round Table Walvis Bay 36 jumped in to help. We received donations from all over Namibia. This video is a small highlight of how we assisted.
Brief History:
Round Table Walvis Bay 36 was founded in 1955 by John Newman. Back then it was just called Walvis Bay Round Table. John Newman was a member of Round Table Cape Town 9, but moved to Walvis Bay. Walvis Bay Round Table was not part of ARTSA (Association of Round Tables of Southern Africa) back then. But in 1957, ARTSA President Hugh White, visited Namibia with his delegation and chartered Round Table Walvis Bay 36, as well as Round Table Windhoek 34. Walvis Bay 36 was officially chartered on Friday, 11 October 1957.
