Wel213 drove out to Witvlei about 140km from Windhoek, a small township on the way to Gobabis Cattle Country. There were 2 tablers, an honorary member, and a 41’er with food for ten households and blankets.

Started off at 04h40 but was delayed by a tabler who overslept his alarm…but being the gentleman, we were we waited and left his house an hour later than planned. But being old tablers this time disparity was already calculated as a contingency.

Witvlei was -4 degrees as we stopped with the morning sun rising from the horizon.

It was so cold that your fingers didn’t work and later on pulsed from the pain. But we had kids with no shoes in the cold.

Wel213 distributed food parcels and blankets to 10 households consisting of 55 people from young to old. In a community where all are struggling, these 10 families were identified by the community as the families who need the most assistance. Witnessing that people still care about others more than themselves was amazing. This was a great experience for our newest Member Wesley Ramothibe for this 1st distribution, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to this new member feel one of the older Slogans of Winter Knights “Nothing Burns Like the Cold” by ensuring that he did some pictures to show the table shirt and not obscured by the thick jacket he had on.

That alone made the 140km drive worth it. Winter Knights’ donation amounted to N$10000 at Witvlei. We had to hurry back because I had other commitments with my eldest being confirmed in church I had to get out of the one car and get into the other to take on the road again.

A few hours after the distribution, and my fingers are still not working properly while typing this report.
